Help! What can we do? We sold our house STC in the 1st week of Sept, our home buyers are now refusing to exchange the contracts until September although we are all ready to go?
They have told their solicitor and our estate agent, that, that was the arrangement they made with us at the time of viewing. This is a lie, we only saw them once for an hour and we had no idea at that point even whether they would put an offer in.
They had told the estate agent before viewing, that they had sold and were renting, we are hoping to buy an empty property and have no mortgage to obtain so there should have been no delays! We would not have considered their offer seriously, had we known all the facts.
Do we have no other option but to see this through and hope that they don’t pull out in the meantime or can we say to the estate agents, “Fine! Tell the buyers that they can come back to us in Sept if they are ready to exchange then, in the meantime we will be putting our property back on the market.”
We would value some feedback as in this market, we are unsure as to what to do.
Regards, Carol
